Local people · Since 1996

Our Coast,
Your Andaz.

Flowers of Southport has 30 years on the Gold Coast. Our family team brings local knowledge, personal attention and a shared floral standard to Andaz.

A Letter from the Owners

Click to openClick to close

Dear Saraid,

Thank you for inviting us to walk through Andaz Gold Coast and for the openness with which you shared the vision for the hotel. Standing in the arrival lobby, seeing the light coming through to the pool, and understanding how each of the four venues will feel gave us far more than any brief could.

Flowers of Southport has been part of the Gold Coast community since 1996. Together, we have owned and operated the business since 2018. We work from our Southport store and our Surfers Paradise operation, serving clients across the Gold Coast. We are a family-run team who know these growers, these markets and this climate, and who answer the phone ourselves.

We would be proud to bring Australia's first Andaz to life in flowers. What follows sets out who we are, how we would work with Margie and your team, and what we propose commercially.

With thanks,

Carolina and Erwin

Co-owners, Flowers of Southport

The Flowers of Southport Difference

Flowers of Southport has been part of the Gold Coast community since 1996. Together, we have owned and run the business since 2018.

More about our teamClick to openClick to close

What sets us apart is years of hands-on experience combined with a well-organised way of running the business.

Anyone who has worked in floristry knows that creating beautiful arrangements is only half the job. The other half is everything around it: taking orders accurately, planning production, getting deliveries out on time, keeping everyone informed, and checking every piece before it leaves the shop. When several urgent requests come in at once, that's what keeps anything from being missed and keeps the quality where it should be.

It's also what lets us look after our everyday customers while handling last-minute requests, larger orders, events and ongoing commercial work, often all in the same week.

We have experienced florists, people overseeing each part of the operation, our own deliveries, and a team where everyone knows exactly what they're responsible for. Nothing relies on one person keeping track of everything.

For a partnership with Andaz, I think that matters a lot. You get the personal care of a local florist that has been part of the community for decades, backed by a team that can respond quickly, manage several requests at once and deliver the same standard every time.

In the end, we want flowers to be one less thing the Andaz team has to think about. You tell us what you need, and we take care of it.

The team

  • Carolina — Co-owner. Relationship lead and creative direction. Your primary contact for the account.
  • Erwin — Co-owner. Operations, sourcing and logistics. Manages finances across both stores, supporting their financial stability.
  • Victoria — Manager of Flowers of Surfers Paradise. Oversees daily operations, floral execution and quality inspections. Your secondary contact for the account.
  • Andres — Systems, account management and presentation. Contracts, scheduling and commercial matters.

Our strength is the people behind every arrangement: experienced florists with decades of combined experience, supported by our own dedicated delivery team and hands-on family leadership. Flowers of Southport has belonged to this community since 1996. That history brings knowledge of local growers, seasonal materials and the conditions flowers need to thrive on this coast. For Andaz, we bring those relationships and skills together in one coordinated team, carrying the care of a local florist through every stage, from the first design conversation to the final check in the hotel.

Margie understands the floral language of Andaz, and we are her hands and eyes. We would take the time to understand her vision, the reasoning behind her choices and her goals for each space. From that understanding, we would bring fresh perspectives for her review: seasonal discoveries, unexpected textures and new compositions grounded in the identity she has established. Our role is to keep that vision alive and evolving, contributing local insight and creative ideas while remaining faithful to her direction and the hotel's character.

Our Shared Values

Flowers Are What We Do.
People Are Why We Do It.

Andaz talks about chasing the sun, and as locals, we know exactly what that means. But not everyone can chase the sun. Sometimes it has to be brought to them. That's what flowers do on a hospital bedside, and it's what Andaz has built into the hotel itself: sunrise in the lobby, full sun at the pool, sunset in the hinterland. The journey is already there. Our flowers simply follow it, with colours that match the light of every space. Andaz brings guests the sun. We're honoured to help complete the picture.

Relevant Experience

Selected work · Flowers of Southport

Our work,
in the world.

  • Wedding and event floristry across Gold Coast venues, working to a coordinator's brief, a fixed install window and the practical constraints of each space.
  • Exclusive floral partners for the upcoming FlyPink Gala at the Q1 Hotel Function Centre, with Flowers of Southport and Flowers of Surfers Paradise designing and installing the centrepieces for the evening.
The experience we bringClick to openClick to close

We would be straightforward with you: an ongoing luxury hotel rotation at this scale would be a new chapter for us. We bring a business with 30 years on this coast, established grower and market relationships, a floral and delivery team with the depth to hold a standing commitment, the discipline of event work where there is no second chance at the install, and a genuine willingness to be led by Margie's standard. We would rather say that plainly than oversell it.

Portfolio

Our Approach to the Venues and Suites

The four spaces are not a set. Each has a different light, a different surface and a different mood, and we would expect the floral language to acknowledge that while remaining recognisably Andaz. Margie will set the philosophy; the notes below reflect what we observed on site and what we know performs in this climate.

Bringing Our Vision to Life

Click to openClick to close

You asked us to dream, so we did. Our team sat down together and imagined each floral concept as a chapter in Andaz Gold Coast's journey through the day, from first light through sunshine, landscape and Mediterranean warmth. Each idea was developed by our florists in response to the architecture and atmosphere of its venue, then brought to life with AI-assisted visualisation so you could see it in the space. These are our ideas, not the final designs. Margie has the last word, and we look forward to developing each concept with her. Individual varieties may be thoughtfully substituted with equally premium, long-lasting material as the seasons change, while preserving the integrity of each design.

Arrival Lobby and Vista Lounge

Tall and generous. Resolved in the round.

Pale, sculptural material, shaped for the morning light and the arrival approach.

This is the sunrise moment of the hotel, and the first thing every guest sees. It is the one arrangement that can never look tired, and it's where our team's experience matters most.

  • Position: Ø1200mm honed stone pedestal table, seen in the round and from above as guests arrive and as they pass through to the pool.
  • Scale: approximately 900mm–1m above the table surface, with a spread of 600–800mm. Tall and generous rather than wide, so it holds the room without crowding the table.
  • Light: backlit by the pool glazing, so silhouette and luminosity do most of the work. Pale, structural material reads beautifully here; deep tones disappear against the glass.
  • Palette: tonal to the sand and blush interior — bone, cream, blush, champagne and muted sage. Contrast comes from form and texture rather than colour.
  • Composition: fully resolved with no flat side. The strongest gesture faces the arrival approach, with nothing unfinished from the pool exit.
  • Care: refreshed weekly with a mid-week check, so it looks as considered on day six as it did on day one.

Andaz Pool Club

Lusher leaf. Relaxed attitude.

Upright, sculptural foliage with a single warm accent, built to hold through humidity, sun and breeze.

Structural foliage · one accent · subtropical

View floral specificationClick to openClick to close

This is the full sun of the Gold Coast day, and the space where the hotel is at its most relaxed. We agree with your brief that it should lean lusher leaf over floral.

  • Position: the curved celadon stone bar, in the hotel-supplied faceted ceramic vessel, set against the textured wall and its ring of lights. The green of the leaf, the stone and the tiles work as one palette.
  • Scale and form: upright and sculptural, roughly one and a half times the height of the vessel, with broad leaves giving width at the base. A focal point at the bar rather than a spread along it.
  • Design: foliage does the work. Fan palm, monstera and broad paddle leaves build the structure, with a single warm accent colour lifting it. Attitude rather than prettiness, and nothing that looks like it was flown in.
  • Material: leaf-based, with the accent chosen for its tolerance of heat and humidity. Semi-outdoor conditions mean chlorine, sun and breeze, so we select materials suited to those conditions.
  • Direction: developed with Margie, drawing on what our local growers can supply consistently through the seasons.

View floral specificationClick to openClick to close

Nove is the heart of the day at Andaz, serving from breakfast through to dinner. One arrangement carries the whole venue, so it has to be felt from across the room without ever getting in the way of the people working behind the bar.

  • Position: the end of the black-and-gold marble bar, in the hotel-supplied faceted ceramic vessel, framed by the wine wall and the lit back bar.
  • Scale and form: an open, fanning shape with height at the centre and movement out to the sides, kept within the end of the bar so the service area stays clear.
  • Design: Mediterranean warmth. Olive foliage, citrus and long-lasting blooms in coral, apricot and blush, sitting warmly against the peach walls and gold detailing. Fewer varieties, cleaner form, and nothing that competes with the movement in the stone.
  • Material: low-shed, long-lasting stems only, de-anthered before installation. Pollen or petal fall on a dark bar top where drinks are served is not acceptable, so we account for this in our material selection and preparation.
  • Scent: kept minimal so the flowers never compete with the food and drink.
  • Direction: developed with Margie, with our knowledge of what local growers can supply consistently through the seasons.

View floral specificationClick to openClick to close

Verde is where the Gold Coast day ends, with the sun setting over the hinterland. It's the most beautiful light in the hotel, and the hardest on flowers. Longevity governs material selection here more than anywhere.

  • Position: the black terrazzo bar, with its large pale aggregate, in a dark textured vessel that sits into the surface rather than on it, set against the blue-grey plaster column.
  • Scale and form: tall and asymmetric, with a clean outline that reads against the wall and holds its shape when backlit at golden hour. Mechanics stay invisible.
  • Design: the sunset itself. Rust, copper, burgundy and amber, warm against the cool of the wall and the stone. Contrast comes from temperature rather than lightness, and the pale aggregate in the terrazzo does the lifting.
  • Material: native-led and built for heat. Banksia, leucadendron and hardy foliage carry the piece, chosen because they hold their form and colour through a west-facing afternoon. We select stems for their ability to maintain form and colour through the rotation.
  • Care: a felt or cork pad under the vessel as standard. Condensation on a matt-sealed dark surface leaves mineral rings, and we'd rather prevent that than ask your team to wipe around it.
  • Direction: developed with Margie, with our knowledge of what local growers can supply consistently through the seasons.

VIP Suites

Quiet luxury. Ready at short notice.

Small, low arrangements for the coffee table, designed for the suite and a personal welcome.

Low form · minimal fragrance · no pollen.

View floral specificationClick to openClick to close

A VIP arrival is personal. The flowers in the suite are often the first thing a guest touches, and they say something about how the hotel sees them. We treat these pieces with the same care as the arrival lobby, just at a different scale.

  • Position: the coffee table, in the hotel-supplied low vessel, seen from the sofa and from the door. Low and resolved in the round, so nothing blocks the eyeline across the room.
  • Design: warm neutrals with a touch of teal to sit with the suite interior. Refined rather than showy, and never competing with the view.
  • Material: We select materials with minimal fragrance and no pollen for the enclosed guest-room setting, helping protect bedding and upholstery while keeping the arrangement comfortable to live with. Long-lasting stems, so the arrangement still looks considered on the last morning of the stay.
  • Ordering: Suite arrangements are ordered on request and priced separately. We'd propose agreeing two or three standard suite specifications with Margie in advance, each defined and priced, so your team can order in one line without a design conversation. For short-notice VIP arrivals, that matters.
  • Direction: developed with Margie, with our knowledge of what local growers can supply consistently through the seasons.

Documentation and Planning

Prepared ahead · Maintained by us

A clear plan.
All year.

We would build and maintain the following for Andaz. All of it is produced in-house by our team, at no additional cost. It's simply how we've run our commercial work for years.

  • 01Every positionFloral specification sheetsClick to openClick to close
A specification sheet for every permanent venue position: the arrival lobby and Vista, Nove, Verde and Pool Club, with separate specifications for on-request arrangements in the two key suites. Each records the vessel, approximate scale, palette, maintenance requirements and approved alternatives, signed off by Margie. It's what makes the standard repeatable across our whole team rather than dependent on any one florist, and it means Margie's direction lives on in the shop long after the opening.
  • 02The year aheadA twelve-month floral calendarClick to openClick to close
A calendar mapping what changes and when: seasonal availability, Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, the festive season and the hotel's own events. Seasonal briefs are planned rather than reactive, and lead times are built in. Our knowledge of local seasonal availability helps us plan ahead.
  • 03Each new seasonConcept proposals for MargieClick to openClick to close
Ahead of every seasonal change, we prepare a concept proposal for Margie's approval covering palette, direction and vessel references. The decision sits with her. The preparation sits with us.
  • 04A clear recordMonthly reporting, if usefulClick to openClick to close
If it helps your team, a monthly summary of services completed, VIP and event orders, any substitutions or issues, and the next period's seasonal planning. It also serves as the installation record for the property.

None of this is meant to add process for your team. It exists so the floral side of the hotel runs quietly in the background, and flowers become one less thing you have to think about.

How We Protect Longevity

Selection · Preparation · Care

Beautiful,
week after week.

You've told us that an arrangement should never look tired. We think that's the heart of the brief. After many years of weekly commercial work, we've learned it isn't something you hope for. It's something you build in, in three deliberate stages.

Botanical study · material and form
Botanical study · material and form

One — Selection

It begins with what we buy. Every stem is chosen for the position it will live in: west-facing sun at Verde, humidity and chlorine at the Pool Club, air-conditioning and backlight in the arrival lobby. Strong, structural material that holds its form under those exact conditions.

Longevity begins with choosing suitable materials and is supported by careful preparation and regular maintenance. We buy for the conditions of each position, not simply for how an arrangement looks in a picture.

Floral concept · a considered composition
Floral concept · a considered composition

Two — Preparation at the bench

Every stem is properly conditioned before installation to support hydration and help the arrangement maintain its quality throughout the rotation. Stems are cut on the angle, stripped below the waterline, given a long, deep drink in clean cold water and rested before the arrangement is built. It's the same discipline our florists have followed for decades.

We also build each arrangement so that any shorter-lived accent can be lifted out mid-cycle without the piece losing its structure or looking depleted. The arrangement on day six should look like it was designed that way, not like something is missing.

Nove · floral concept
Nove · floral concept

Three: The midweek visit

If we deliver on a Thursday, we return the following Monday. During the scheduled mid-cycle visit, we check and care for each included arrangement.

The included mid-cycle maintenance visit covers the four venue arrangements and any Flowers of Southport arrangements currently installed in the two key suites, subject to room access. Suite arrangements are ordered and priced separately. Any additional visits outside the scheduled service are agreed and quoted in advance.

The care checklistClick to openClick to close
  • We change the water rather than simply topping it up, and check hydration as part of every scheduled care visit.
  • Vessel lifted, base wiped, felt or cork pad checked and dried.
  • Any tired foliage or spent flower removed, and the arrangement redressed so it reads as intentional rather than depleted.
  • Eyes on each arrangement covered by the scheduled visit, so if something is underperforming we replace it before a guest notices rather than after.

This scheduled visit, within the scope above, is included in the monthly fee. We would rather your team never had to think about water. That is our responsibility, not theirs. The only thing we would ask of your staff is a message if something is knocked or spilled during service.

By the end of the week an arrangement should not look like a tired version of Monday. It should look like a slightly quieter version of itself.

Service day

Click to openClick to close

We'd rather set the delivery day around your occupancy than around our bench. If the venues peak Friday through Sunday, a Thursday delivery puts the arrangements at their best when the rooms are fullest, with the mid-week visit early the following week. We're guided by you.

If something does not look right

Click to openClick to close

If an arrangement falls below the agreed standard, we will refresh or replace it at no additional charge. We will respond promptly and aim to resolve the issue the same day, subject to suitable flower availability and delivery capacity. If this is not possible, we will confirm the earliest available service time with your team.

Indoor Plants and Planter Boxes

Interior plants are a different craft to cut flowers. It's an ongoing relationship built around watering cycles, light levels, replacement and rehabilitation, and we'd rather point you to people who do it properly than take it on and do it partially.

Following our conversation with Elisabeth, we've narrowed it to two specialists we believe are the strongest fit for Andaz.

Sculptural green monstera and philodendron leaves against a deep green background
Indoor planting · botanical study

Advance Plants

The strongest option from a hotel-operations perspective. They already service major Gold Coast hospitality properties, including Sheraton Grand Mirage, JW Marriott, Dorsett Broadbeach and Hilton Surfers Paradise, so they understand the expectations and service levels of a large luxury hotel.

Operating since 1982 with a Gold Coast base, they offer full commercial plant hire covering design, installation, maintenance, replacement and green walls. Their existing work in Gold Coast hotels is a real advantage; they already know what a property like Andaz expects.

Bretts Plants

Also a very strong option, particularly on design and customisation. Family-owned, servicing South East Queensland from Noosa to the Gold Coast, and known for tailored plantscapes rather than standard office-plant packages.

What makes Bretts unusual is Prestige Planters, their own facility producing one-off handmade planters to a specified colour and finish. If Andaz wants planters that belong to the interior rather than sit alongside it, that capability is rare and valuable. They also run a large nursery with systems for maintaining, replacing and rehabilitating plants, which is what keeps presentation consistently high.

Our view

Advance Plants has the stronger proven luxury-hotel record on the Gold Coast. Bretts offers more flexibility and bespoke design, and we've seen their work first-hand, which is why they're the one we'd personally recommend.

We'd suggest speaking with both before deciding, particularly about Gold Coast servicing arrangements, replacement turnaround and hotel experience. We're happy to make the introductions, and to keep supporting this conversation whatever the outcome of our own proposal.

On what performs indoors in this climate, we're glad to advise Margie directly: light levels, air-conditioning tolerance and what genuinely holds in a subtropical building.

Working with Margie

Vista Lounge floral concept for discussion with Margie
Vista Lounge · floral concept

Creative direction × Local execution

Margie brings
the vision.
We bring it
to life here.

How we work with MargieClick to openClick to close

We're entirely comfortable working to Margie's direction, and it's part of why this opportunity appeals to us. Nearly four decades shaping Hyatt properties across Asia Pacific is a standard we'd be learning from, not negotiating with.

Practically, we'd want the specification documented for each position: palette, form, scale and vessel, so it becomes a defined standard our whole team can deliver to. Getting an arrangement right once is design. Getting it right fifty-two times is discipline, and that's what a hotel actually needs.

Where we add real value is local. What's actually coming through the Brisbane markets and our South East Queensland and Northern Rivers growers. What performs through a Gold Coast February. What's realistically available in the weeks either side of Mother's Day. Margie brings the vision. We bring what's achievable here, week after week.
